This city, referred to as Florence on the Elbe, offers stunning artworks, as well as a Bohemian-style quarter with playful facades

Now that the highway is completed, Dresden got pleasantly closer to Prague – the trip takes less than two hours.

Augustus II the Strong, the Elector of Saxony, was the man behind the great flourishing of Dresden. At the turn of the 17th and 18th century he had Dresden rebuilt into one of the most beautiful cities of Europe at that time. Yet the dominant Baroque style is not all to be admired here. We will visit all most significant monuments downtown, many of which were damaged in the devastating bombing at the end of WWII and only recently repaired or newly rebuilt.

The Frauenkirche Church became one of the city’s icons, literally only arising from its ashes in 2005, in order to become a symbol of peacemaking, just as is the new and originally designed synagogue. We will attempt to see their exceptional interiors as well. Art lovers will have the opportunity to visit one of the monuments listed below or we can explore the artistic Neustadt quarter, including a stop at the most beautiful milk factory in the world, located nearby.
